In the land of the Northern Lights

Northern Norway is considered one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights, and NASA has predicted that winter 2012/13 could have the most spectacular and powerful displays in years. Autumn 2012 has already witnessed some spectacular Aurora displays in the skies above Tromsø and Kirkenes. Book your trip to Northern Norway with Sunvil this winter to give yourself a good chance of sighting this natural phenomenon.

Notes:
Of course, we cannot guarantee a sighting with a natural occurrence but, this will be a bumper season. To increase your chances, we would recommend that you:
•         Leave the artificial lights of the city behind
•         Choose excursions which offer the opportunity to ‘chase’ or ‘search’ for the Northern Lights: They have a higher success of sightings.
•         Travel at the time of the new moon when the sky is at its darkest.
•         Avoid travelling at the time of a full moon.
•         Stay as long as you can. Four-nights or longer is ideal.
But, above all, we would recommend that you book a tour that includes an activity, or a visit to a region of spectacular natural beauty, so that you have a wonderful evening regardless of a sighting.

The dates of the new moon in 2012/13 are:
•         15 October 2012
•         13 November 2012
•         13 December 2012
•         11 January 2013
•         10 February 2013
•         11 March 2013
•         10 April 2013
