Outside of the city the Skåne countryside is alive with colour and activity thanks to the favourable climate. During the spring, the lush rolling hills are transformed by yellow rape and apple blossoms; the autumn brings the harvest, which sees apples and asparagus collected in bountiful supply. Familiarly known as the breadbasket of the country, you are never far from a delicious culinary experience.

Here, fresh, local produce is the order of the day. Whether windswept and peaceful or drenched in summer sun, the 400km of sandy beaches and rocky coastline are wonderful to explore. Scattered along the shoreline are charming fishing ports,the natural park of Stenshuvud, medieval towns and historical sites; of which Ystad with its pictureque cobbled streets and age-old traditions, and the Megalithic monument of Ales Stenar are highlights.

To the north west of the region is the Kullaberg peninsula and nature reserve. A destination of outstanding natural beauty and affording wonderful walking and cycling opportunities as well as picturesque picnic spots, cave walks, snorkelling excursions and porpoise safaris.
