The Hotel Vila Nova is located near the 16th century Fort of Sao Bras and the Praca (Square) de 5 Outubro in the city centre of Ponta Delgada, 200 metres from the town’s cobbled shopping streets and 500 metres from the 18th century city gates. It offers clean, well-maintained guest accommodation and is a convenient base from which to explore the capital of Sao Miguel.

The Praca de 5 Outubro is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike, especially in the summer months when the square hosts local festivals and musical performances. During the Santo Cristo festival in May, the square is illuminated by colourful lanterns and is the heart of the celebrations and  processional events.
