The southern coastline of Kefalonia boasts a string of safe sandy beaches, good views to Zakynthos, and the fabulous backdrop of Mount Aenos (at 1628m the highest peak in the Ionian). The area is understandably popular with couples and families alike, although development is rather scattered (there are no big hotels or large resorts here).
