Residence Poseidon is one of our most popular properties and attracts many repeat guests. Exceptionally well-kept, it offers high quality accommodation in tranquil surroundings above Kefalonia’s south coast. Set on the lush hillside close to the traditional village of Spartia, its spacious walled grounds house pretty gardens, swimming pool and tennis court.

The 17 studios and apartments here are (with the exception of the cottage and one studio) housed in two buildings, one above the pool, one to the rear of the grounds. Each has air-conditioning (included in the holiday cost), satellite TV, an open-plan or separate kitchen area, telephone, modern tiled shower room, and balcony or patio terrace with garden, countryside, pool or sea views. All have attractive light modern decor and good quality furnishings.

Most are twin or double-bedded studios for couples, perhaps with a child. There is a small supplement for the four superior studios in the front building situated above the pool, each of which has a well equipped kitchen with full cooker, a separate bedroom and a good-sized balcony offering lovely views over pool, gardens and countryside to mountains, coastline and sea. The ground floor houses the pool bar and a studio next door for couples only, open-plan with double bed and very handy for the pool.

The pair of 2-bedroom apartments is on the top floor of the rear building. Each comprises a living room with open-plan kitchen area (full cooker), a twin and a double bedroom, shower room and two balconies with fine sea and mountain views. An extra bed can be placed in the twin bedroom and also the living room if required.

The 1-bedroom cottage is detached and set to one side of the grounds. It comprises a living room with a full kitchen area and space for one or two extra beds, bathroom with bath and shower, and front double bedroom opening onto a terrace with views over lawn and tennis court to mountains and sea.

The large freshwater swimming pool measures some 120 sq m (depth 1m-2.50m) and has a children’s section  (depth 0.70m). The low-key pool bar serves breakfast, snacks, light meals, ice creams and drinks through the day. Occasional evening barbecues are organised by Vangelis, the hospitable owner. The tennis court to the side of the gardens is free of charge, and equipment may be hired. Use of a washing machine and internet access are also available (local charge).

A five minute walk brings you to the unspoilt village of Spartia, with its church, square, two small grocery shops and three tavernas. Spartia’s sandy beach is a 1500m walk down the hill, c.20 minutes down but allow longer back as it is steep in parts.

The lush hilly countryside and a network of small paths and lanes means there is good walking all around. However, for explorers and non-walkers car hire is recommended for easy access to a choice of beaches (some with water sports), other villages and the capital, Argostoli, which is only a twenty minute drive away.
