Ostional National Refuge 8km from the Nosara, this is one of the most important nesting grounds in the country for Olive Ridley turtles who come ashore to lay their eggs between July and November. The leatherback and Pacific green turtle also nest here in smaller numbers. Iguanas, crabs, howler monkeys, coatis and many birds can also be observed.
