This owner-managed modern hotel is located at the edge of the picturesque fishing hamlet of Caloura (20-minutes uphill walk – less on the way back!). The hotel has a magnificent setting on a rocky promontory overlooking the sea and is set against a background of small fields and vineyards. There is a small sandy beach ‘Baixa d’Areira’ 5-minutes walk from the hotel (also accessible by car) and natural pools on the headland to which the hotel has access. Panoramic views of the coastline can be enjoyed from the hotel bar, lounge and restaurant, which features local cuisine. We consider this well run establishment to be amongst the best in the Azores and would particularly recommend it for anybody wanting to stay a week or longer on Sao Miguel.
