Nick Heathcote, for 17 years a BBC television executive producer, is one of a handful of British who live in the Azores. Captivated by the islands following a
whistle-stop taxi tour from the QE2 which docked in Sao Miguel for half a day in 1997, he decided to settle in Caloura and bought a small, 160 year old “Adega” set within 7,500 square meters of hillside land and only a short stroll from the tiny fishing harbour of Caloura.

 

Using local craftsmen and stonemasons, the property, including the original wine press, has been fully restored and enhanced to an extremely high standard.  Since its opening in 2004 the Quinta do Mar has become one of our most well praised properties – highly recommended!
