Guatemala City
Guatemala City holidays
This crowded city is surrounded by a group of active and dormant volcanoes. In the area around the central plaza are many bars, now popular with local artists.
The City also has a number of good museums, skyscrapers and upmarket restaurants and nightclubs. North of the capital is the village of Santiago Sacatepequez, which stages a wonderful kite-flying ritual on All Saints Day on the 1st of November.
Guatemala City is not a particularly attractive city, nor does it have any architectural sights worth visiting. However, the city serves as a convenient base for an overnight before early morning flights to other parts of the country.
