Aurora Hunt by Dog Sled
Under the dark arctic sky and away from artificial lights, a team of husky dogs will lead you on a journey in search of the Aurora Borealis. The trail takes you through a forest of pine and birch, down to the well-known Torne river where you can see the star-filled night sky stretching out above you. During the tour you will stop at a lavvu (sami tent) where you will be offered fika (coffee and cake) around an open fire.

Aurora Spa Ritual
At your own pace, you carry out the treatments in our spa. The treatments at Camp Ripan’s ‘Aurora Spa’ are based on old Swedish, Sami and Torne Valley Finnish medicinal traditions. All products contain natural raw ingredients and are completely free of preservatives. A complete experience for the body and soul! Massage your face and hands with a deliciously scented coffee scrub, let your feet enjoy a foot bath with juniper salt and lemon while you massage the soles of your feet on pellet balls, scrub your body with a scrub made from freshly picked birch leaves, anoint yourself with a wonderfully smooth body oil made from burdock and scented with pine aroma oil. All this while in between you enjoy the heated water of the pools, bast or sip on a glass of wine or a smoothie while relaxing.

Aurora Tour with dinner in Abisko
This is an evening tour for those who want to visit Abisko and experience the unique landscape and nature of the national park. After a 1.5 hour drive, enjoy a three-course dinner in the restaurant in Abisko. Our guide tells us about the nature and stories from the area, Sami culture and about the northern lights in Sami mythology.
After dinner we head out into Abisko National Park to experience the scenery and if the weather is good, watch the northern lights. Our guides are trained photo guides and if you have a camera, we will help you take pictures.

Forest Tour by Dog Sled
Glide through the sparkling wintery landscape of Lapland by dogsled. As you take the forest trail, you will travel fast paced through the glistening trees until you get your first glimpse of the Lavvu (sami tent), where you will warm yourself around a roaring fire with a hot drink. Sit back and take in the stunning scenery that surrounds you. You might even be lucky enough to spot a reindeer or moose on your adventure.

Nordic Ski and Nature Tour
With a local guide you will cross country ski on one of the many marked ski trails around Kiruna. Your guide will choose the best tracks suited to your experience and show you some of the local wildlife and nature in this area.

Northern Lights Photo Tour
This small group tour will teach you how to take pictures of the Northern Lights and the darkness-blanketed landscape. This is a skill that you will use throughout your time in Swedish Lapland and beyond and as such is recommended at the start of your holiday. Your tour will take you to one of the best sites for Aurora photography in and around Kiruna. Additional sites will be visited depending on time and atmospheric conditions. Hot drinks will be served around a fire at the end of the evening.

- Departures: Daily at 19:30 (01Sep-15Apr). No tour on 24Dec and 31Dec.

Raidu – Encounter with the Reindeer (Sami Culture)
After a short transfer to a reindeer camp (15 minutes) you will enjoy a presentation of Sámi culture by your local guide. Help train, feed and race reindeer while learning about the importance these beautiful animals have to the Sámi way of life.You will also have the opportunity to take a reindeer sled ride around a small track. After the tour, we gather in our lávvu tent, to warm up and taste traditional Sámi food.

Snowmobile Forest and Mountain Tour
In northern Sweden, the snowmobile is the most common form of transport used to explore the beautiful winter landscape. The tour will start at Camp Ripan where you will drive out into the low mountain areas close by, over frozen lakes, and into this wild forested region. The landscape is covered in deep, white snow, and you have the opportunity to enjoy the drive and the fabulous winter scenery. This snowmobile journey travels up to Ednavaara mountain, situated about one hour from Camp Ripan. Once there, you can enjoy the fantastic view, and share your new experience, having travelled through Europe’s last wilderness. During the tour, there will be a break where you can enjoy a light snack from the Lapland kitchen. On the way back, the path will lead through the wetlands where there will be an opportunity (if you’re lucky) to see the local wildlife - namely moose.

Snowmobile Kebnekaise Tour
Take part in a magnificent full day tour in one of the most beautiful spots in Sweden. You will go by minibus to Nikkaluokta where the road ends. You change over to snowmobile and drive up to the mountain lake Láddjujávri. In front of you will be the highest mountain in Sweden, Kebnekaise. Surrounded by high, steep mountains, you cannot avoid the feeling of how big and great nature is. During the break you'll try ice fishing and have lunch with local delicacies, in restaurant Enoks. During your trip you will most likely see moose.

Snowshoe Tour from the top of Kiruna
The tour will start by taking the ski lift to the top of our local ski hill, Loussavaara. From here you will be able to see almost all of Kiruna, and if it’s clear, all the way to Kebnekaise - Sweden’s highest mountain. Hike your way along the 3,5 km trail back to Camp Ripan - but don’t worry, it is mostly downhill. If you are lucky you will see the aurora dance in the sky above on the evening tours. If the weather permits you will sit down with something warm to drink about halfway and wait for the aurora to reveal itself. The surreal light, unique to the Arctic Circle region, is an experience on its own.

Trapline Dog Sled Tour
The kennels of Bert Ove Johansson are located in Laxforsen, 10km from Kiruna, and have been certified by the ‘Nature’s Best’ environmental award. A favourite of the Sunvil Team. After meeting your team of huskies at the kennels, you will depart for a tour of the surrounding Arctic wilderness. Watch the white landscape glide past from your seat or from the mushers/driver’s position – it is a truly wonderful experience! Light refreshments will be served in a wilderness hut whilst the guide tells stories about the huskies and the traditional way of life and of survival techniques used in the area. It is possible to take a short snow shoe walk in the surroundings of the hut. Return to the kennels by dog sled.

- Approximately 2.5 hours are spent onboard the sleds. The duration spent onboard the sled will be determined by weather conditions on the day.
- Transfer by taxi from Camp Ripan to ICEHOTEL and by minibus from ICEHOTEL to the dog kennels. Total transfer time is 30 minutes each way.
- Each sled accommodates 2 people and is led by a team of 5-6 dogs. A private sled is pulled by a team of 4-6 dogs.
