Overview

Introduction

Sorrento, 53km south of Naples, is a small, mature, holiday resort with a spectacular coastline and a maze of narrow streets with many restaurants, cafes, designer shops and boutiques. It is an ideal base from which to reach many of the region’s greatest treasures including Naples, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and the islands of Capri and Ischia.

Excursions from Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast

The following regular public tours and excursions can be pre-booked for clients staying in Sorrento or on the Amalfi Coast (Ravello, Positano and Amalfi).

All departures are from Sorrento by coach between May and October. Transfers to the departure point in Sorrento are not included in the prices shown.

  • Duration: FD Full day = c.8-hours / HD Half Day = c.4-hours
  • Entrance fees to sites are not included and are payable locally c.5-18 Euros per person
  • Regular tours are only available May-October on scheduled days

Private Excursions from Sorrento

The following excursions can be pre-booked for clients staying in Sorrento. Private excursions can be tailored to suit individual requirements on request.

Private excursions:

  • 6-hour tour to Herculaneum (inclusive English speaking driver £236)
  • 5-hour tour to Pompeii (inclusive English speaking driver £195)
  • 8-hour tour to Amalfi, Ravello or Positano (inclusive of English speaking driver £292)
  • 9-hour tour to Amalfi, Ravello and Pompeii (inclusive of English speaking driver £313)

Notes: The price quoted above is per taxi and inclusive of an English speaking driver, parking fees and motorway tolls. Entrance fees and guide services are not included.

The Sorrento Cooking School

With a large number of Michelin rated restaurants, the Campania region is widely known for fine dining related to food preparation and natural ingredients.

Sunvil can pre-book simple cooking lessons for beginners to more advanced cooks. Learn to prepare a typical Mediterranean meal made up of four dishes (appetizer, first course, second course and dessert).

  • Price is £82 per person (shared cooking experience)
  • Price is £193 per person (private cooking experience)

Notes

  • Daily classes from 10:00 to 14:00 or 16:00 to 20:00 (4 hours) April to October
  • Minimum 4 / Maximum 14 participants per lesson
  • The recipes change daily
  • The school is located in Sorrento
  • Transportation to and from the Cooking School is not included

Rosanna is the head of our Discovery Department which covers tailor made holidays to Portugal and the Azores, Italy and Sicily, Scandinavia and the new programme to Spain. She is our longest serving member of staff having joined in 1994 after completing an honours degree in French and Italian and subsequently working for a tour operator in Yorkshire. She is responsible for brochure writing, contracting accommodation, programme costing, computer inputting and generally troubleshoots where necessary.
