Hacienda Chichen Resort and Yaxkin Spa

Chichen Itza

Features

  • Chichén Itzá
  • Bed and Breakfast

About 300m from the site entrance is a converted colonial estate that dates from the 16th century. It was here that the archaeologists who excavated Chichén during the early 20th century stayed. The tropical gardens are full of palms and exotic flowers.

The 30 rustic small bungalows are simply furnished with en suite bathrooms (shower and hot water can be temperamental!) They are equipped with air-conditioning and mini-bars (no TV, telephone - and quite dark). Dehumidifiers are also supplied to combat the dampness that results from being in the middle of the jungle!

Outside, the bungalows have shared terrace areas with rocking chairs and hammocks. The master suites are slightly larger and come with a bathtub.

There is a large pool (unheated) and extensive outdoor seating areas. The small spa specialises in ancient Mayan treatments. The restaurant has an outdoor seating area overlooking the gardens (reserve in advance). There is a shop selling traditional handicrafts and also a small reference library. The gardens are excellent for birdwatching and there is also a small chapel in the grounds.
