Originally a 16th century convent, this property has been restored to its full glory as a luxury hotel. The old chapel is now a banqueting hall, and one of the five attractive courtyards contains an enticing and decent-sized swimming pool. Fountains, gardens and antiques enhance the ambience. The former nuns' quarters are now home to locally made crafts and textiles. Thick stone walls help keep the place cool on hot summer days.

The 91 rooms are well appointed in a colonial style and feature a safe deposit box, air conditioning, TV and minibar. Bathrooms are equipped with small bathtub/shower. Please note that due to the historic nature of the building, a number of the standard rooms are relatively small. Camino Real Club and Junior Suite rooms are more spacious.

The hotel's El Refectorio restaurant serves local and international cuisine. There are two bars, one of which offers live music on certain nights. The building has been designated a national treasure by the Mexican government and an historic monument by UNESCO. In the evenings, candles are lit around the hotel, making the atmosphere even more magical.

This centrally located historic property is a true gem, ideal for honeymooners or those celebrating a special occasion. Please note that weddings and family celebrations are frequent events in the hotel.
