Highlights of Cartagena de Indias
Soak up the history as you stroll the colonial streets of the sensual old-town (UNESCO site) with a guide – a maze of cobbled alleys, balconies covered in bougainvillea and large churches. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the convent Iglesia de la Popa which resembles the stern of a galleon. Visit San Felipe fortress which was built in the honour of the poet Don Luis Carlos Lopez (originally from Cartagena) which was positioned on San Lázaro hill to defend the city from pirate attacks. Proceed to the Ciudad Vieja (old city) to visit the church of San Pedro Claver and craft markets.
