Orinoco Delta Lodge

Orinoco Delta

  • Orinoco Delta
  • Full Board including excursions

The lodge is built in typical Warao style in a beautiful and tranquil setting on the banks of Cano Guamal on the delta of the Orinoco river. It has 40 simple rooms with wooden walls  and palm roofing. They are equipped with private bathroom (no hot water) and mosquito nets on the door and windows. Some of the rooms are built on stilts over the water. There is electricity in the cabins provided by generator (from sunset until approximately 11 pm).

All rooms are connected to the hotel by elevated wooden walkways and suspension bridges which are lined with kerosene lights at night. The  attractive gardens have been landscaped with jungle plants. A large Warao Indian style 'churuata' (hut) is home to the restaurant and bar area. Access to the lodge is only by boat - Maturin and Puerto Ordaz airports serve as the main gateways (flights from Caracas).

Excursions into the jungle such as bird watching, piranha fishing and a visit to the local Indian communities are included.
