The islands of the Azores, with their mild climate (day time temperature ranging from 14-22 degrees), are the most wonderful islands for walking.  The volcanic formation of the islands has endowed them with a spectacular natural beauty. Vast craters nurturing glistening blue lakes, sheer black cliffs falling into the ocean, lush rolling valleys and hot mineral springs and geysers combine to form a truly diverse scenery found nowhere else in the world.

Greece is famous for its good walking, especially in early and late season. Guided walks can be pre-booked in Alonissos. Our holidays to Amorgos include a ‘Walkers Guidebook’, with the authors on hand to lead you if you wish.
 
Guided walks from resort are also available locally in Chrani (South Peloponnese), Tilos, Ithaca, Eastern Pelion and Skopelos, and a free walking booklet is available for Western Pelion, Mani (Stoupa and Kardamili) and Parga. In addition to the above areas, good independent walking opportunities will be found especially in Andros, Corfu, Crete, Halkidiki, Ikaria, Meganissi, Naxos and Samos.

One of the best ways to truly escape the demands of everyday life is to immerse oneself in the atmosphere and scenery of a place with a culture different to our own. A walking holiday offers the chance to become intimately acquainted with and enjoy every element of Greece’s local beauty and history. Trekking from one place to another lets us discover places which are largely unseen by most people, and to experience the beauty and silence of more remote corners of the countryside. It also gives an immense sense of achievement, and the kind of satisfying tiredness at the end of a walking day that brings deep relaxation.
 
One of the beauties of Greece is that many of her treasures lie hidden in olive groves or on steep mountainsides: crumbling Byzantine chapels, fragments of Mycenaean temples, caves, tiny bays without a soul in sight – all there waiting for the more intrepid traveller to discover.

She offers two different walking holidays that take place in some of the most beautiful areas of Greece:

Peaks of the Pindos and Jewels of Ioannina (11 day trip)
9-19 June 2012

The Mountains and Monasteries of Amorgos (10 day trip)
10-19 September 2012

Please note: flights are not included in the cost. Flights should be booked to Athens (plus domestic flight to Ioannina for the Pindos trip). Pretty much everything else is included in the price - nearly all meals, entrance fees, accommodation etc. See individual itineraries for further information.
