Introduction

At just 15 sq kms, Pserimos is a rocky islet between Kos and Kalymnos and comprises just one tiny village, some half dozen beaches, and many more goats than its 80 inhabitants! The sole village (and de facto 'capital') is Avlakia and is really most appealing.

Avlakia has some four tavernas, two cafes, one small shop for basics and a church. Other than some rough walking paths to other beaches (30-45 mins. - take water, provisions, a sun hat and good trainers) there is nothing to do, so you have no option other than to spend your days between the sea, beach and taverna! Do be aware that the island receives day trip boats from Kos between approximately midday and 3 pm. Although these short-stay visitors are only on Pserimos for about an hour before getting back on board, their local spend ensures the island's survival in difficult times.

Getting to Pserimos

Getting to Pserimos:

Flight to Kos. Ferries run from the small port of Mastihari and take c 40 mins. Same-day ferry connections are limited (in 2023 only on Sunday afternoons) so usually an overnight in Kos and a transfer the following morning is required (10.15 on Wednesdays and Fridays in 2023). There are daily ferries from Kalymnos in the morning at 09.00 returning in the afternoon dep 17.30 - these also take c 40 mins. On Pserimos there is a short walk to your accommodation. On your return the reverse applies.

Multi-centre options:

Good daily ferry connections (40 mins) with Kalymnos, Telendos, Kos. Many other islands in the Dodecanese chain can be reached via Kos (may require an overnight).
