Star Clippers Cruises in Greece and Central America

Introduction

Have you ever dreamed of sailing the distant seas on a tall ship, reminiscent of those used in the golden age of discovery? Feeling the wind in your hair as you sit under mast on deck, and watching the blue of the horizon rise and fall as you journey towards your destination? Hearing the gentle lapping of waves against the hull, feeling the calm, and having the time to just be… be at one with your vessel and your environment? This is a cruise with Star Clippers.

Established over 30 years ago by Mikael Krafft, Star Clippers were born out of a love for the sea and a desire to share with others the romance and adventure of sailing under sail. Today, the company has a unique sailing product on board three tall ships: Royal Clipper, Star Clipper and Star Flyer. These ships are the largest and tallest fully crewed sailing vessels in the world, albeit much smaller than traditional cruise ships.

Whilst these ships may be grand and elegant, they are - somewhat surprisingly - very relaxed, informal and personal - one of the reasons we love them and feel a connection with our own ethos. Guests can join the captain at the helm, learning about sailing and the history of exploration, participate in small-group activities and entertainment programmes or relax by the pool.

Claire joined us in 2005 after having spent 6 years in Lesbos running her own business teaching English, where she married a Greek. The economic crisis in Greece forced them to return to the UK. Alongside day to day reservations, Claire is also mother goose to our 30 or so overseas representatives in Greece and works very closely with Graeme, our overseas manager in Greece, to arrange for their interviewing and training. Understandably she loves Alonissos.
