Holidays to Rab Town

Rab Town is an architectural treasure, perched on a walled peninsula, rising high above the sea. The well-known skyline of four bell towers came after the Romans, in medieval times, and many of its architectural treasures were shaped by that era. The old town is car free.

Rab Town has an unforgettable town beach, made of stone and lies close to the city walls. It can become crowded in July and August yet is glorious in other months. Sea swimmers also have a choice of some other pebble and rock beaches within an eight-minute walk around the coast.

There is a beautiful town park called Komrcar full of Aleppo pines, holm oak, spruce and cypress trees with paths winding around wooded hills and seating areas. Our hotel Valamar Imperial is directly adjacent to it. Rab Town is an exquisite white stone creation with narrow streets on three parallel levels and several squares and piazzas of differing sizes. Helpful large information boards tell of key places worth visiting in town and these were the idea and realisation of a local who wanted to share the treasures of Rab Town with visitors.

There is a great choice of bars and restaurants and a good selection of shops including supermarkets. One of our favourite restaurants is called Sanjper, it is right on the harbour waterfront, adjacent to the morning fish market and is popular with locals as well as visitors.
