Daytime Dog Sled Tour
Experience a unique dog sledding adventure through snowy terrain, surrounded by an Arctic mountain landscape. You will be picked up from the city centre of Tromsø, from where you will be taken to the wilderness centre, Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away from the city centre of Tromsø.
Upon arrival at the camp, you will be provided with warm winter clothes and the guides will give you some safety instructions and a practical demonstration on how to steer your own sled. Self-drive dog sledding with Alaskan huskies is an active experience. Each dog sled will have two people sharing a husky team. One is the “musher” (driver) while the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. Along the way, you will get the chance to switch places, so both of you get a chance to be the driver and/or relax on the sled.
The dogs are well-trained and love to run, but as teamwork is very important with dog sledding, there will be parts on the trip where you will have to help and push the sled together with your dog team.
Depending on snow conditions, you will spend up to 1 hour 30 minutes to complete the trail.
After the tour, a hot meal is served around the open fire in a traditional reindeer herder’s tent.

Northern Lights Chase with Norwegian Charm
In old Lapp folklore the Northern Lights represented a powerful energy source that could be harnessed by shamen to solve the community’s problems. The lights could also help cure sickness, and shamen would make “spirit journeys” into the aurora to enable the sick to be cured. They could be dangerous too: it was believed that if you whistled under the Northern Lights, they would swoop down and take you away into the sky. This small group (16 people max) tour will take you away from the artificial lights of Tromso in search of the Northern Lights. During your drive you will be told interesting facts about the Aurora Borealis, both scientific and folklore. Your local guide will help you adjust your camera settings (if required) to enable you to capture the magical moment the Aurora Borealis appears in the sky above your head.
