Hervas Holidays

Hervas holidays

Many consider this as the loveliest area in Extremadura. Hervas is a large medieval town of around 4,000 inhabitants, located 120 km north of Caceres and 90 km from Salamanca. Its most significant feature and historical heritage is a very large Jewish Quarter, a district of steep alleyways that drop down from the main plaza to the River Ambroz and the medieval Fuente Chiquita Bridge.

Holidays In Hervas

The houses within the Jewish quarter are clustered together and were constructed with adobe and chestnut wood framework. Their roofs are of Arab tiles. There are several notable churches, manor houses and monasteries dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries. A system of walking trails is being developed encompassing the surrounding countryside.

Hervas is known for its leather and wooden handicrafts and, strangely, is the location for the second largest collection of classic motorcycles in Europe.
