Overview

Introduction

Svoronata was one of the few villages in Kefalonia which were spared substantial damage from the catastrophic earthquake of 1953. It is one of the few villages where the old, traditional buildings are still to be seen. It is a quiet, sprawling village with some traditional shops to be explored. There are several supermarkets and tavernas, bars and restaurants.

The village is set on a slope, with views to the sea and is surrounded by olive groves and fruit orchards. This is an agricultural location. Though not for those looking for bars and nighttime buzz, Svoronata is approximately 9 km southeast from the island’s capital Argostoli and 6 km from lively Lassi. The Airport is 2 km away. There are several excellent beaches away from the mainstream in the surroundings which are best visited by car.
