Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2003, the park is located in the middle of a triangle between Plasencia, Trujillo and Caceres and is crossed by The River Tagus. It is the largest and best preserved Mediterranean mountain landscape in the world. Holidays In National Park of Monfrague

Here you will find black storks, vultures, imperial eagles, deer, common genets, badgers, lynx, wildcats, otters, snakes and tortoises to name but a few of the 208 species of vertebrates.

This is a wonderful park and very easily accessible from 3 of the most beautiful towns in Spain - Plasencia, Trujillo and Caceres. Of particular interest is a 300 metre cliff made up of an immense, quartzite outcrop on the banks of the Tagus - the Salto del Gitano.
