Patagonia, at the southernmost region of the earth, is a vast area of outstanding beauty boasts majestic glaciers, rivers and fjords, crystal green lakes, remote islands, dense, unexplored forests and snow-capped mountains.
A cruise on the Australis ships allows passengers to admire stunning scenery, experience exciting adventures and learn about the history, fauna and flora of the region, all in a high degree of comfort.
These two expedition cruise ships, each with a capacity for 130 passengers, have 64 cabins in four categories. The categories range from ‘B’ grade cabins to ‘AAA’ grade cabins depending on the deck that the cabin is located (the higher the cabin, the higher the grade of cabin). Each air-conditioned cabin has a twin or double bed, safe deposit box, wardrobe, heating and large window.
There are 5 decks including an external panoramic top deck in addition to two saloons with bar – each offering exceptional glacial views. Indulge in fine regional or international cuisine and sip the best Chilean wines whilst enjoying magnificent panoramas from the Patagonia Dining Room located on the lower deck. Other facilities include a games room, boutique and infirmary.
The season operates between October and April.

Chile was made for lovers of the outdoors and wonderful natural scenery. Very few countries can offer deserts, volcanoes, glaciers, snow capped mountains and emerald-green lakes. Away from these places, I feel very privileged to have also travelled to two of Chile’s extremities - Cape Horn and Easter Island; contrasting destinations but equally special.
