Rancho Humo Estancia

Formerly a cattle ranch, Rancho Humo has been transformed into a private ecological reserve.  A unique and special area encompassing the wetlands, dry tropical forest and mangroves of the Tempisque River in Guanacaste.  Rancho Humo is naturally flooded in the wet season, only partially drying out in the dry season.  It is set over 2642 acres including parts of Palo Verde National Park.  It is teeming with wildlife, including howler monkeys, iguanas, coatis, ocelots, crocodiles, herons, black crowned night herons, hawks, ducks, roseate spoonbills, wood stork, cormorant and the Jabirú.

This smart estancia (originally the owners house) has been designed and refurbished to give an authentic feel of a typical Guanacaste hacienda. The amenities include a swimming pool with sun loungers, a bar with an open terrace and a restaurant serving refined home grown dishes prepared with fresh ingredients (many of which are grown in the hotels organic vegetable garden).  A wonderful wildlife safari experience in a tranquil wilderness.
