Introduction

Sunvil started featuring holidays to Cyrus in 1970 and, at that time, the village of Ayia Napa, with its 16th century monastery located in the village centre - now a town centre - had no notion of what it was to become. Our chairman remembers camping on Nissi Beach, the best beach on Cyprus and eating at the one or two village tavernas.

The village, which has now become a town, is at the centre of far-reaching tourism developments, hotels, bars and clubs. It is one of Europe’s top party destinations. Ayia Napa is an experience and now very much a part of what Cyprus has become.

As a centre, Ayia Napa is a good base for exploring the southeast of the island, Cape Greco National Park and the city of Larnaca.. For some this will be what holidays are all about. If it’s all a bit too much, then escape to the beautiful, beachside, peaceful gardens of the Nissi Beach Hotel.

Noel Josephides

Noel is Sunvil’s Chairman. Born in Cyprus in 1948, he joined John der Parthog at Sunvil in 1973. Before that and following university, he spent 3 years as a trainee buyer at C&A Modes and then worked for a large Cypriot builder and property developer for whom he set up a London Office buying electrical components for the Middle East and importing lemons from orchards in Cyprus. He still researches new destinations for Sunvil and is heavily involved in matters relating to the travel industry. He is a previous chairman of ABTA, a long standing director and previous chairman of The Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) and former chairman of The Travel Foundation - the travel industry’s sustainability charity.
