This long-established hotel - the first to open in Molyvos (1961) - occupies a superb position, in our view one of the best on the island. It stands in extensive natural grounds above the sea, about a kilometre from the start of Molyvos (further to the harbour).
The hotel has 125 rooms most contained in the main building. All rooms are simply furnished in an older style and have a good-sized balcony or terrace to the front. Half have some form of sea view over the trees. WiFi is available in the main building and public areas.
The main building houses the reception, lounge, bar and the terrace restaurant where a well reviewed buffet breakfast is provided each morning.
The gardens are natural and full of trees, shrubs and birdsong (we heard nightingales).
Within the grounds, close to the sea, is the large attractive seawater pool which measures over 200 sqm (depth 0.90m-2.80m) - the views to Molyvos are fabulous from here. A poolside bar and taverna operate during the day. The hotel also has three tennis courts (local charge, equipment can be hired).
The long beach below is sand/shingle and offers safe swimming.
If you don't mind old-fashioned rooms, albeit with mod cons, the Delfinia is recommended for a relaxing stay in natural surroundings within a short walk (15 minutes) of one of the most attractive and historic villages you could find.
