Hotel International

This is a hotel with a truly fabulous location in the centre of medieval Rab old town with the waterfront to one side and narrow, historic streets to the other. It is literally a matter of paces to the water’s edge.

It is a simple, 3-star hotel with lots of space and the curious name is due to the number of international visitors who return every year with some having first visited as far back as 2007 when the present owner bought the property.

Rab old town is pedestrianised so there is no traffic noise and the front of the hotel facing the waterfront has the benefit of water taxi stops and excursion boat departure points.

The nearest beach is the town’s stone quay beach a 10-minute stroll, followed by a man-made sand beach and further pebble beaches across the bay, reached by 15-minute walk around the seaside pavement or a two-minute water taxi ride. The catamaran from/to Rijeka city stops on the quayside barely five minutes’ walk away.

As Croatia is now one of the most sought-after short-haul destinations so, inevitably, hotel prices have increased sharply in recent years due to demand. Hotel International still offers excellent value and Sunvil clients additionally benefit from a special offer of 20% discount on all a la carte meals and drinks when charged to the room. This discount applies for the whole season, May-October and is deducted from the bill on departure. The hotel has plans to remain open until mid-October in 2024.

There is a pleasant outdoor pool in a traditional walled garden and free sunbeds. Pool towels are not supplied so guests should bring their own or buy them locally. Shops, restaurants, bars are close by together with supermarkets, banks and excursion kiosks. The pool area has no facilities for children.

A small indoor wellness area offers sauna, whirlpool and gym and professional massage treatments are available from an in-house therapist from early June to September (charge applies).

One main restaurant serves buffet breakfast and half board buffet dinner – there is no outside dining area.

Dock 69 is the hotel’s a la carte restaurant with a lovely outdoor bar- terrace and an extensive menu which is also popular with locals. The special 20% discount also applies here.

Rooms are traditionally and simply furnished, are spacious with en suite bathrooms, most have bath with shower and just four rooms have walk-in shower (these have old town view). There is a choice of sea view and inland-old town view. No balconies.

There is a friendly, relaxed atmosphere at this property, a highly experienced general manager (who speaks perfect English) and some staff who have been at the hotel for years. These are surely contributing reasons for so many return guests.

Some decorative works are planned in preparation prior to the 2024 season.
