The original structure of the Malacitam fortress dates from 1624 and the palace within which the hotel is located was built in the same architectural style in 1932. Soho Hotels purchased the palace in 2019 and have renovated the whole while maintaining the structure of the palace in order to create what must rank as one of the most exclusive 5-star hotels in Malaga.
