Island hopping in the Sporades - Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos

The Aperitton is a welcoming small hotel located some 7-8 minutes walk (600m) from the harbour via the winding narrow lanes of the old town - a steady uphill walk but nothing very steep and no steps. It has 28 rooms on its first and second floors and an attractive swimming pool to the front.

Front rooms overlook the lawn and pool and have lovely views to the verdant hills at the back of Skopelos Town. Rear rooms look over the town rooftops and port to Alonissos and have partial sea views. We think the small difference in price is worth paying as these are very quiet rooms and have renovated bathrooms. All rooms possess twin or double beds, AC, smart TV, fridge, shower room, hairdryer, room safe and furnished covered balcony. Furnishings and decor are traditional, attractive and simple.

The swimming pool below is of a good size (depth 1.5m-3.0m) with ladder access and furnished terrace surrounds. Pool towels are provided free of charge and there is a low key pool bar (seasonal) serving drinks and snacks from around 12.30 pm and into the evening (drinks only).

The Aperitton has private parking and can offer massage / therapy treatments on request. The town beach is a 10 minute walk away and buses run regularly to others.

Due to the location and the steps within the hotel (there is no lift) we would not recommend this hotel to those with mobility difficulties unless a car is hired and a first floor room is booked as there is step-free access to this level from the parking area.

A very traditional family-run small hotel with plenty of Greek charm and friendliness, we think the Aperitton makes an excellent base from which to enjoy all the attractions of Skopelos; both the characterful harbour town (one of the loveliest you will find in our book!) and this beautiful island in general.

Set amongst the pine trees up the hill at the back of Patitiri, where the road to Alonissos Old Village begins, the Atrium has stunning views out to sea. The harbour of Patitiri, with its shops and attractive water-front tavernas, is just under one km. away - a 15 minute downhill walk - and it’s a similar distance to the very nice beach of Rossoum. (Please note: the walk back to the hotel is uphill and so would not be suitable for those who have mobility issues without car hire or taxis).

The Atrium provides good facilities and comfort in its 29 double or twin-bedded rooms. All possess air conditioning, WiFi, TV, a mini-fridge, a safety deposit box, tea-making facilities, hydro-jet shower and a hairdryer - all our rooms have a sea view balcony.

The swimming pool below measures 80 sq m and can be accessed by steps or a ladder, with an adjacent pool bar - pool towels are provided.

The Atrium offers good modern standards and facilities in an attractive location and with excellent views from almost everywhere.

The Mandraki Village offers high quality and comfort combined with good service and an intimate atmosphere close to the most famous beach on the island.

40 rooms and suites are housed in various small 2-storey buildings scattered around acres of pretty gardens. Well furnished and decorated in contemporary light pastel shades, all possess air conditioning, flat-screen Sat TV, fridge, safety deposit box, hairdryer, modern shower room and balcony or terrace with garden views.

There is a 90 sq m swimming pool in the gardens (pool towels provided free of charge, beach towels are available at a small local charge) with an adjacent restaurant and pool snack bar operating during the day. The hotel also has the well regarded Elias a la carte restaurant open for dinner on the first floor terrace. A further choice of restaurants can be found within a 10 minute walk on the road to the beach.

A beautiful short cut through a nature reserve and past Strofilia lake brings you to famous koukounaries Beach in 5 minutes. However, a choice of lesser known (and lesser populated) beaches, such as Mandraki on the north-west coast, can be reached in about 25 minutes through the pines.

Skiathos Town is 12kms distant and easily reached by the frequent local bus (25 mins., there is a bus stop outside the hotel) or by water taxi which runs hourly during the day from Koukounaries beach.
