It is thought that at least 200 hotels across the world carry the name ‘Bristol’ and there are many theories as to why so many carry the name. The most popular story stems from the travels of the 8th Earl of Bristol who toured Europe in the late 18th century with his own entourage and cooks. His lavish tastes became synonymous with luxury, thus so many hotels bear the name.This Bristol hotel does more than justice to the name. For many regular visitors it is a home from home and personal service and friendliness are a hallmark of this hotel. A member of the Yades Historic Hotels and originally a post office built in 1870, the hotel is located in the Ladadika district in the heart of the city, close to Aristotelous Square and amidst all the cultural and historical sites. The sea front is a ten minute walk and the famous White Tower a 20 minute walk. Converted from a beautiful neoclassical building, the rooms are very spacious and richly furnished in Classic style. Vintage bicycles are free for the use of guests.

The charming Liotopi is a sisterhotel to the Akroyiali, very well-run (by Loulou) and as equally friendly. Set in a lush garden just 50m from the sea, opposite the small fishing harbour, you are only a minute’s walk from the start of Olymbiada’s long sandy beach.

The hotel has only 16 pretty rooms on the first and top floor, a mix of doubles and twins. all possess air conditioning, TV, fridge, safety deposit box, tiled shower room, hairdryer and good-sized covered balcony with appealing views to the sea, garden or the wooded hills behind the village. A pair of garden rooms to the side (1 double, 1 twin) are quite private and share a delightful raised covered seating area. Rooms are individually furnished and attractively decorated in a simple, tasteful style.

The hotel has a modern (completed in 2020) top floor suite built under the eaves for couples wanting space and privacy or for a family of up to four persons. Spacious at 70 sq m, light and airy, the air conditioned suite comprises a double bedroom; a separate living room with two full sized divan beds, a small kitchen with fridge and light cooking facilities and a dining area; and a modern shower room. There is no balcony but velux-style windows provide decent natural light. Just be aware that the cantilevered wooden ceiling is low in places!

The colourful garden to the front has seating and shade, and here a very good breakfast with homemade jams and cakes is served. Dinner is taken at the Akroyiali restaurant just a minute’s walk away.

Liotopi guests have free use of sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach outside the Akroyiali Hotel just 100m away. We think it would be almost impossible not to thoroughly relax here.

Half Board

Guests at the Liotopi and Akroyiali hotels stay on a half board basis, which includes a 3 course evening meal taken at the Akroyiali’s decked restaurant area above the beach which offers a wide choice of home cooked Greek dishes - a far cry from the standard Greek hotel half board buffet. Do try the famous Olymbiada fresh mussels!

We therefore believe the holiday prices here to be very good value. If you have any dietary requirements please advise us at the time of booking. Please note that lunch can be swapped for dinner if notice is given, and dinner service for half board guests starts at 20:30 due to staff rotas as Greeks tend to eat late.
