Day 2-4 - Days at leisure in Girona including a half day walking tour
Girona is a charming city renowned for its medieval old town, winding cobblestone streets, and colourful houses lining the Onyar River. For first time visitors, we'd highly recommend starting your exploration with a stroll through the Barri Vell, a maze of narrow streets and quaint squares. Be sure to stop at the Girona Cathedral, a stunning Romanesque and Gothic masterpiece with an impressive nave and cloister. Climb the Cathedral steps for breathtaking views of the city and the Pyrenees mountains in the distance. Be sure not to miss the Jewish Quarter (El Call), one of the best-preserved in Europe, and a walk along the Passeig de la Muralla, a scenic path atop the city's medieval walls.
It's not all about history, Girona is a foodie paradise with a wide variety of restaurants serving traditional Catalan dishes. Sample some local tapas or try a hearty escudella i carn d'olla, a Catalan stew made with vegetables, beans, and meat. For that special occasion, choose one of the city's three Michelin starred restaurants in Girona - the famous El Celler de Can Roca, the Massana and the Divinum (pre-booking essential).
