Introduction

Rio Grande do Norte is one of the smaller Brazilian states and is located in the far northeast of the country.

It is characterised by excellent beaches and huge sand dunes along its 418 kms of coastline. In Rio Grande do Norte the beach buggy rules. The whole state has a population of 2.5 million and Natal, the capital, around 650,000. Natal, ‘City of the Sun’ is a friendly, clean and safe place with wonderful beaches and is developing into the beach and leisure capital of the northeast. The city has few high- rise buildings, relatively little traffic and a good night life.

Just north of the city is the resort of Genipabu, where huge, rolling sand dunes set the scene for the most exhilarating of buggy rides which should not be missed.
