Hotel Istra Opatija

Situated right on the seafront with direct access to the lungomare seaside promenade, this three star hotel is a real find. So many aspects are four star including the semi-private beach area, the choice of food and the terraces of the lobby bar.

It’s approximately a five minute walk to the centre of Opatija with bus station, main Slatina beach and around 10-15 minutes’ walk to Angiolina Park, the big covered fresh market (open from 0600) , larger supermarkets, bakeries and many other shops. Walk either via the street or all the way by the seaside lungomare.

Within a few minutes of the hotel there is a small supermarket and a large open market selling beachwear, bags and clothes

The number 32 bus stops almost in front of the hotel in a westerly direction meaning an easy connection to the beaches of Icici and Lovran , or walk the lungomare to them.

Opposite the hotel is the famous Thalassotherapy Opatija, a medical and wellness clinic with an international reputation for rehabilitation, breathing and muscular disorders. The hotel collaborates with the clinic

Hotel Istra’s Active and Healthy programme is an interesting option including a proper detox breakfast (green tea, oatmeal, wild asparagus, and more) and the half board dinner offering a special healthy selection featuring salad corner, blue fish dishes and local wild herbs grown on the slopes of Mount Ucka and prepared by a local herbalist known as “medicine man Aldo”.

On the active front, there are walks and Yoga by the sea. Walking here is special because the sea air is rich in concentration of negative ions, which are said to be beneficial in the boosting of immune system, treatment of inflammation and other conditions. These programmes are normally free of charge and can be booked at hotel reception.

Regular half board buffet dinner is served in the main restaurant and includes wine and beer from a dispenser.

Bistro Nostromo is an a la carte restaurant with a wide choice of dishes. Lobby lar lounge on the same floor as reception has fabulous views and has regular “offer hours” on drinks and snacks.

The beach area is semi-private with a wooden deck area with sunbeds and parasols (charge applies). Guests need to provide their own beach towels.
