In a forest clearing on the outskirts of Rovaniemi stands Apukka Resort, a rural hideout that oozes charm, personality and attention to detail. Away from light pollution and adjoined by two lakes, this property is well-positioned to offer wonderful sightings of the awe-inspiring Aurora Borealis. With cosy guest lounges, a restaurant specialising in home-cooked Nordic cuisine and a choice of thrilling activities on offer it caters for both relaxing and exhilarating winter breaks.
You could say that Apukka ticks all of the boxes for a winter 'bucket list' holiday: Glass igloos for uninterrupted views of the night sky above, the opportunity to see the Northern Lights, interactions with huskies and reindeers and the chance to sauna like a Finn.
We feel that, although a sizeable property, Apukka is the best of its kind in the region.
