Kyrimai Hotel

You could not get more 'away from it all' than a stay at the Kyrimai. At just about the far southern tip of Mani, this intimate and remote small luxury hotel has style and comfort in spades, and all in the most atmospheric surroundings.

Whether you are looking to spend a week or just a few nights as part of your holiday (perhaps to celebrate a special occasion), a stay here will be a highlight. The hotel is at the edge of the tiny fishing village of Gerolimenas. Lovingly converted by the Kirimis family from a 19th century warehouse, with the sea to the front and side you could imagine yourself on a yacht, especially whilst taking the sun on the hotel's furnished jetty. The wild and rugged inner Mani landscape adds to the unique ambience here.

The 22 double-bedded rooms and suites are of various types and sizes. With Maniot stone walls, wooden ceilings and decor in warm earth colours, a tasteful mix of contemporary and antique furniture and top quality bedding, all rooms offer romance and comfort in equal measure. Mod cons include flat-screen sat TV, air-conditioning, mini-bar, room-safe and hairdryer. Some have sea views, others courtyard views, and some are split-level with a living area and bathroom down and a sleeping area above on a wooden mezzanine floor accessed by steepish wooden stairs. Balconies are limited to the higher category suites. WiFi is offered in some public areas.

All rooms are lovely but we would recommend the two-level ('loft') superior sea view which has great views over the pool to the sea from its large windows; or the two-level Suite, which greedily has two balconies (one village view, one sea view), two bathrooms and can sleep up to 4. Whichever room you stay you will not be further than 30m from the sea. Public areas include the decked pool, upmarket restaurant and jetty with sun-loungers and ladders into the cleanest sea you could imagine.

Gerolimenas remains a backwater and sleepy as they come. Fishing boats ply their trade, mainly selling to the handful of fine tavernas here, and possesses a clean shingle beach. It is an excellent base from which to explore southern Mani, Areopolis, some of the many Byzantine chapels to be found here, and the unmissable Caves of Diros just up the road. Lastly, should you not wish to drive far immediately on arrival we can book your first night at the Elektra Spa Hotel in Kalamata (30 mins. from airport) with an appropriate reduction.

Tailor-Made Kyrimai

Our holidays here can be very flexible. Kyrimai combines well with the Kinsterna Hotel near Monemvasia (see next page) and a split centre holiday is easy to arrange - it is an approx. 2-2½ hr drive between the two. We can also include the hotel on any of our Peloponnese fly-drive itineraries.

If you would like a taste of Kyrimai, consider a short stay within your main holiday, perhaps to celebrate a special occasion. We can easily book you in for a couple of nights if you have a car from any of our Peloponnese resort areas. Kardamili and Stoupa are the nearest, just an hour or so to the north. Please ask for a costing.
