Hotel Bor

The word “bor” in Croatian means “pine” and this charming, boutique style hotel is located on the edge of a pine wood resulting in a wonderful, fragrant scent in the air when there is a breeze. Hotel Bor is in a fantastic location just 10 minutes walk to the walled old Krk Town along the seaside promenade which is pedestrianised.

Hotel Bor has an official three star categorisation which is rather curious because the hotel is simple yet very stylish with a wide choice of room types and suites. All rooms have the same facilities, it is only the size of the room that denotes the category. In our opinion it should have four star categorisation. There is a lift and free car parking. 

There is a lawned garden area in front of the hotel (for use by the general public and hotel guests), the seaside promenade and then the beach, accessed by a few steps. No cars or traffic between the hotel and the Adriatic sea. It’s around two minutes walk from the hotel entrance to the beach. 

It’s a glorious spot, away from the buzz of the centre of the old town yet close enough to enjoy  the monuments, the ramparts, sites, shops, bars and restaurants and events, not to mention boat trips.

Perfect for those who want to be close to the beach, away from traffic yet near to all amenities. A beach bar is located a couple of minutes to the left of the beach opposite the hotel. Along the seaside promenade there are other café-bars, food kiosks and casual restaurants.

From outside, the hotel looks rather like a large private villa which makes sense as the property is family owned and run and is open for most of the year, closing only from January to mid March. There are many repeat quests from all over the world.

The outside space has great appeal where the Golden Rose a la carte restaurant has a lovely outdoor terrace with views to the sea and set among trees. The menu offers a wide choice of international and Croatian dishes including some local specialities of the Kvarner region where the island of Krk is located. Many local people from the island of Krk choose to come for dinner here.  The lawned garden area has free sunbeds for guest use. These cannot be reserved in advance. Due to the trees here, at certain times of day the garden area provides cooler shaded spots.

The hotel has three floors and each floor has a terrace with free sunbeds for guest use. By the first floor terrace there is a small pool for guests who prefer this to the beach.

Drinks are served at the lobby bar, on the terrace and in the garden area.

There is a small outdoor gym/fitness area within the wood. Tennis courts are nearby and can be booked by the hotel. A wide choice of boat trips to the neighbouring islands and for dolphin watching are available from Krk Town.

Accommodation

• There are 38 rooms and suites (34 rooms and 4 suites).
• The “smallest room” is the economy category which is 19 square metres and some have a Juliette (French) balcony  (a viewing balcony, no seating space). 
• The largest room is the superior category measuring 33-36 square metres with a full sized terrace or balcony and sea view
• All rooms have a walk-in shower, there are no baths.
• Most rooms have double or king size beds. There are three standard rooms with twin  beds and these do not have balconies or a sea view.
• The four suites sleep two adults and two children or one additional adult. There are also some other rooms which can have an additional bed in the case of three people wanting to share one room. Please ask.

Superior room with balcony or terrace

Superior double /king bedded room (33 sqm) with air conditioning, bathroom (shower plus hairdryer), telephone, satellite TV, small fridge and safe. With terrace or balcony. These are the largest rooms in the hotel and are very spacious. A few superior rooms have a very large terrace and sun beds and these are on request.

Suite

Suite with double /king bedded room (28 sqm) with air conditioning, bathroom (plus hairdryer), living room, telephone, satellite TV, small fridge and safe. Suitable for 2 adults and 2 children or one additional adult. With terrace and sea view.
