Pousada Castelo de Obidos

In 1282, King Dinis gave the town of Obidos as a wedding present to his bride Donna Isabel. The fortified town of Obidos is one of the prettiest medieval towns in Portugal and is located near the coast north of Lisbon. Since those times, the town has been a place of relaxation for the Portuguese monarchy. The medieval town, with its narrow streets and beautiful squares is crowned by a 10th century castle which is considered to be one of the seven marvels of Portuguese architecture.

The pousada is located within the castle and is one of the most exciting to stay in and early booking is recommended.

Note: the pousada is an ancient monument and therefore has a good number of steps. Those with walking difficulties should be aware that this may not be the best pousada to choose.

• Superior rooms, located in the castle, have twin beds, bathroom (bath), fireplace and armchairs
• Castelo superior rooms have a King-size bed or twin beds, bathroom (bath) and will accommodate an extra bed for an adult or child (2-12yrs)
• Suite, located in the cottage, has twin beds, bathroom (bath), separate living room, fireplace and will accommodate an extra bed for an adult or child (2-12yrs)
• Suites, located in the castle or tower, have two floors: top floor with double bed and ground floor with a bathroom (bath) and small room
