El Far Hotel

The word spectacular does not begin to describe the location of this 4-star hotel, built over a former 18th century inn, which towers 175 metres above the beaches of Llafranc and Tamariu on one of the steepest and highest coastal promontories in Spain. Located next to the emblematic lighthouse of San Sebastian, this spot more than any other captures the beauty of the Costa Brava coastline.

The nine bedrooms accessed from a courtyard with an impressive double staircase are decorated in an elegant, nautical style with many blues and whites and are designed to fully capture the peace and quietness of the location and the magnificent views. The suite in particular has impressive views over the sea and four of the rooms have a wide terrace facing south with views over the Mediterranean. Three rooms look out over the Emporda region and the pyrenees in the distance. These rooms capture fiery-red sunsets.

The El Far is known for its restaurant with sea views which showcases traditional Mediterranean cuisine and specialises in rice dishes, fish and shellfish almost entirely sourced locally. The hotel’s terrace offers incomparable panoramic views.

It's a steep walk down to the beach and restaurants of Llafranc, but the walk up is quite tiring and will take half an hour! Of course, if you have a car you can simply drive.

NOTES:

• A 2-hour private walking tour of Begur, Calella de Palafrugell or Palamos can be pre-booked to enhance your stay in the area. Prices on request.
• The beach at Llafranc is closed for cleaning every year for a week at the beginning of the season - usually just after Easter.
