Hiking on the Sormlandsleden and hotel package with spa Sörmlandsleden – nature's gem in Sormland.

A 1,000km hiking trail that winds through a very diverse natural and cultural landscape and past historical monuments. There is everything from open landscapes to wilderness, lakes in abundance and lovely stretches of coast.

The morning of your hike, you will be transferred to Tullgarn Castle - the start of your 20km hike on stage 56 of the Sormlandsleden. This is a linear walk, finishing at the Trosa Stadshotell and Spa, that passes through forests, alongside the sea and includes multiple viewpoint, scenic stops and the opportunity for wild swimming. A second day of walking is available on request covering the 55th stage of the trail.

Stendörren Nature Reserve

For nature lovers a visit to the Stendörren nature reserve, situated between Trosa and Nyköping, is highly recommended. Via suspension bridges you can explore a number of small bare rock islands on the Sörmland archipelago, enjoy the tranquillity of the islands and the variety of flora and fauna on show or take a picnic and watch the world go by.

Small quaint towns are a plenty in Sörmland. The picturesque waterfront town of Trosa, the market towns of Malmköping, Mariefred and Nyköping are worthy of a visit, as are Sigtuna and Uppsala, the ecclesiastical capital of Sweden, in neighbouring Uppland.

During the summer months the towns of Sörmland host a range of festivals including Midsummer celebrations in Mariefred and Trosa on 21Jun. On the first weekend in July (06-08Jul) the village Stallarholmen (70km from Trosa) is transformed to a Viking Centre of today with market stalls, attractions for children, Viking ships and artefacts – ideal for all of the family.

An extensive archipelago stretches along the Sörmland coast. During the summer months (End June - mid August) it is possible to cruise along the coastline from Nyköping and Trosa to the islands of Ålo, Kråmö or Askö. These cruises also offer the opportunity to spot grey seal and many sea birds.

Sörmland's Countryside and Walking Trail

The Sörmland countryside is verdant, quiet and peaceful. The woods are full of birdsong and the fields and pastures bloom with wild flowers.

The 1000km marked Sörmlandsleden walking trail winds through the county affording the opportunity to immerse in the unspoiled landscape; passing lakes, open countryside and running alongside the spectacular Baltic coastline. The trail is divided into 92 walkable sections that are between 2km and 21km long. Circular walking routes, of varying lengths, are available.

In the heart of Sörmland, close to Gnesta and Nyköping and surrounded by rolling fields, woodland and Lake Malmasjon, is Öster Malma Castle and Wildlife Park. Open all year (except September) Öster Malma combines history, a highly praised restaurant and the opportunity to study red deer, fallow deer, wild boar and moose close up.
