Boutique Greece

One of the attractions of a holiday in Greece has traditionally been the simple lifestyle – an 'away from it all' back to basics holiday which is reflected in comfortable albeit 'no frills' accommodation. However, the past few years has seen a growth in smaller, deluxe properties which are at least the match of those found for many years in rural Italy, Portugal and Spain.

This new breed of small upmarket hotels can be found in some unexpected places - often in locations of outstanding natural beauty away from the crowds.

So we are delighted to join forces with the Yades group of hotels - a consortium of rather special properties which,although each is very different, have much in common. All are privately owned and aim to combine a distinctly Greek heritage with an intimate atmosphere, five star rooms and a high level ofpersonal service. Many have noted restaurants, which offer contemporary Greek cuisine and the finest Greek wines. Yades hotels are linked with Historic Hotels of Europe and 'Heritage and Hospitality' is the Yades motto.

The Yades Hotels you can find featured are Kyrimai Hotel in deepest Mani (Peloponnese); Avli Lounge in the old quarters of Rethymnon, Crete; Aigialos and Esperas on Santorini; the Allegory Hotel in the old city of Rhodes and Skites Hotel, Halkidiki.

Of course not all of Greece's best boutique hotels are necessarily members of Yades. Kinsterna Hotel and Spa near beautiful Monemvasia in the remote south west Peloponnese is equally fabulous and highly recommended. Other hotels in our programme which we would consider 'boutique' in many respects are the San Nicolas and Agnadi Suites on Lefkas, and On The Rocks in Crete , most of our hotels in the Old City of Rhodes, Elies in Kardamili (Mani, Peloponnese), Island View Villa and the child-free Mare Monte on Thassos, Villa Afrodite in Lemnos, White Suites in Halkidiki, Niriedes Suites in Sifnos, the Athermi Suites on Santorini (adults only) and the Anemomilos (Folegandros).

Please note: it is not necessary to commit to a full 7 or 14 night stay. All are happy to offer short stays, so for that special occasion we can easily tailor-make a few nights, perhaps with a car, within a holiday elsewhere in the region and without breaking the bank, or incorporate them within a fly-drive on the mainland or Crete. Or you could split a one week stay between Kyrimai and Kinsterna.
