Dominica captivated me with its untamed beauty – lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant culture. It's a true escape for those seeking an authentic Caribbean experience off the beaten path.

Get in touchSoufriere is located on the south-west coast of the island and is the capital of St Mark’s Parish, with a population of around 1,400. Before European colonists arrived, this area was the home of the Amerindian settlers. The Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve is located here. The Scotts Head peninsula, Dominica’s southernmost tip, separates the Caribbean Sea from the Atlantic. The village church here was built in the 18th century, out of volcanic stone. On the sea front, opposite the church, there is an underwater fumarole that warms the seawater in this spot.
Picturesque Soufriere Bay has become quite a centre for watersports and freediving. The very professional Soufriere Outdoor Centre, run by Wes Moses, is where it all happens. For Scuba divers, the dive sites of the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve are very dramatic and much sought-after - some say that they are the best in the Caribbean.
Sulphur springs are also to be found here. Try the Bambooze sulphur baths! Champagne Reef (active fumaroles beneath the shallow water) is an extremely popular snorkelling area. If you are into kayaking, then the Soufriere Outdoor Centre is where it’s at. If you are really adventurous, then you can join the 60 km, 6-day, kayak trip, called the Waitukubuli Sea Trail, along the length of the west coast of the island. Several hiking trails also begin here, some extremely challenging.
