Owner-managed by Juha Tuunanen and his team, Aurora Village Ivalo reflects everything we value in a hotel partner. The emphasis is on thoughtful, attentive service, underpinned by a clear commitment to guest understanding, cultural integrity and the protection of the surrounding natural environment. By choosing to remain deliberately small and personal, the village creates an atmosphere in which staff and guests have the time and inclination to talk, share stories and engage with Arctic life at a more meaningful pace.
Set just xx km from the centre of Ivalo, Aurora Village lies within a peaceful spruce forest. At its centre is a generous restaurant and bar, where an open fire brings warmth and a sense of ease, encouraging guests to linger. Reindeer are often seen passing close by the windows. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style, while dinner is a set three-course menu, with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
The village comprises forty-eight detached, glass-roofed cabins, discreetly positioned to ensure privacy, comfort and quiet. Some overlook the reindeer paddock, others face the forest, but all are designed to sit lightly within the landscape. On clear nights, minimal light pollution offers favourable conditions for observing the Northern Lights directly from your cabin or elsewhere within the grounds.
A wide range of excursions is offered, all centred on small groups and authentic experiences. With its own stables—home to Shetland, Finn and warm-blood horses—two reindeer paddocks, an ice kart track, and extensive networks of snowmobile and forest trails, the breadth of activity is notable. Each experience is delivered with careful attention to animal welfare, environmental responsibility and guest enjoyment. Throughout, there is a strong educational thread, encouraging a deeper understanding of local nature, wildlife and traditional livelihoods. Aurora Village Ivalo is a place that resonates quietly, remaining in the memory long after the journey home.
