La Cisterna Hotel

In the centre of San Gimignano is the ancient Cistern Square where La Cisterna Hotel stands, one façade overlooking the square and the other towards Val d’Elsa, some of the loveliest scenery in Tuscany. San Gimignano is a charming hilltop town in Tuscany 54km (1 hours’ drive) southwest of Florence and 56km (50 minutes) from Siena.  The city is known for its striking medieval towers - 14 in all, which dominate the skyline.  Visitors can climb the tallest tower (200 ft) for a panoramic view over the city and surrounding landscape.  The city centre is encircled by 13th century walls and at its centre is the main square ‘Piazza della Cisterna’.  The city attracts a lot of attention from day-trippers but at night, when the hoards have disappeared, is the best time to really appreciate this Tuscan gem.
