Hotel Peninsular

You could not get a more central location than the 3-star Hotel Peninsular. Operating as a hotel for the last 150 years, it is set right in the middle of the historic commercial centre of Girona and a ten-minute walk from the station. The old Jewish centre is a 10-minute walk away and the Gothic cathedral of Santa Maria and the city walls 15 minutes away. The Onyar River with its brightly coloured houses, the cafes, restaurants and bars on the Rambla and Independence Square are all within an easy stroll.

The buffet breakfast is plentiful, includes local products and is varied. Traditionally furnished, this is a very clean, friendly and helpful hotel and ideal as a base for exploring the city and a sister hotel to the Alga in Calella de Palafrugell.

NOTES:

• A must is a visit to the Dali Museum in Figueres which is a 45-minute drive away (or you can take the train) and the AVE high speed train can take you to Barcelona for the day in 40 minutes.
