Hotel Llafranch

Location, location, location. Across the promenade to the beach, and what a beach! This 3-star hotel has everything that one would associate with a cool, white summer hotel, open to the sun and the sea breeze. Nestled within the hotel, La Placa Restaurant also features an outdoor dining space in the adjacent little square, a popular choice for summer meals. The coastal path Camino de Ronda runs along the beach leading to Calella in one direction and Tamariu in the other.

The hotel dates from 1958 when the three Bisbe brothers opened their doors to the world. Even then, Llafranc was a popular destination and with such a position and character, the hotel attracted the rich and famous. Rock Hudson, Sofia Loren, Kirk Douglas, Elizabeth Taylor and many others all passed through the Hotel Llafranch.

Still family owned, Adelita continues to cook some signature dishes, like squid’s ink black rice using Josep Bisbe’s original recipe.

A friendly and perfect base to enjoy the riches of this most beautiful of Spanish coastlines. A week here and a week exploring the mountains and the city of Girona would make a perfect holiday.

• The beach at Llafranc is closed for cleaning every year for a week at the beginning of the season - usually just after Easter.
