In the countryside of Buccheri, a small mountain town between Ragusa and Syracuse, surrounded by olive groves, stands this old 18th century house, whose dominant colours are golden tufa and dark lava stone. Sensitively rebuilt and refurbished, with furniture sought out in antique markets and lovingly restored, its atmosphere is of the Sicily of times past. It is within easy reach of the baroque sites of the Val di Noto and you can enjoy its tranquillity and calm after a busy day’s sightseeing.

Legend has it that the name “Terraliva”, meaning “olive territory”, was given to it many centuries ago by the Cherubim, who came to earth in search of a place to produce the best olive oil to take back to paradise, and chose this spot, where today grow the Terraliva olive trees. Today, the farm’s tradition is still to produce excellent olive oil, which has won numerous prizes.
