Holidays to Denmark

Denmark is the smallest and southernmost country of Scandinavia. With its rich Viking heritage, endless countryside, glorious sandy beaches, a host of medieval castles and manor houses and, of course, the vibrant city of Copenhagen it is a destination with much to offer the independent traveller.

A total of 406 islands, 90 of which are inhabited, make up the country of Denmark. The capital Copenhagen, situated on the island of Sealand and bordered by the waters of the Öresund strait to the east and agricultural land to the west, is an ideal destination for a city break at anytime of year – although to see the city at its most beautiful, we would recommend a visit during the summer months.

From May to September you will not only benefit from long daylight hours but, you will see the city come to life with local Copenhageners lining the canal banks and enjoying the rays of the sun in the outside cafes and restaurants. In the sunlight the waters glisten and the colours of the buildings appear to intensify.
