We have lived through, and continue to live through, a time that we never imagined and one we will never forget. Whilst our borders were closed, many of us were forced to take the opportunity to slow down and finally make time for ourselves. We watched the flowers bloom, listened to the chirrup of bird song, got to know our neighbours and found new ways of connecting with our loved ones near and far.
Fourteen weeks ago, I wrote a piece titled 'All for the love of travel' reminiscing my travel history and discussing my passion for this industry; one which I have been a part of for over 50 years.
With restrictions eased, I am excited to return to Greece to reunite with friends and to visit areas that hold such a special place in my heart. I want to sit in a shaded taverna, with our local hosts, and have a conversation. I want to hear their stories, their news and learn how Sunvil's holiday programme can help them to rebuild their businesses. We'll take the time to plan for the future and to reconnect.
Our first flight to Greece will depart on Thursday 16 July and the majority of our European destinations are open to UK travellers (or planning to revise their border closures in the coming weeks). Wherever you choose to travel, I can guarantee you will receive the warmest of welcomes from our overseas partners, and throughout your trip you will be supported by our knowledgeable team here in the UK.
You can also rest assured that the necessary safety precautions have been taken. All our partners are working to the protocols adopted by their respective countries, details of which can be found in our Coronavirus hub. We have always done our best to communicate honestly with our customers and hope that this information will give a good idea of what to expect in the 'new normal' we all find ourselves in.
If you are in need of holiday inspiration or wish to learn more about what life is like, post-lockdown, in Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Spain, Italy and beyond, please call our destination specialists - after all personal interaction is one of the main reasons we love to travel (and why my team and I are passionate about our work).
