Cocoa Cottage is set 6.7 km up the Roseau valley, a 13 minute drive, which buzzes with rural community life, from Roseau, the capital of the island. It is ideally located within easy reach of the hikes, hot springs, waterfalls and spectacular scenery of the Morne Trois Pitons UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The area certainly deserves a two or three night stay and, if you are a keen hiker, probably more as the nearby Titou Gorge Falls are the starting point for the 4 hour hike to the Boiling Lake.
Tatjana and Oliver bought Cocoa Cottage in 2020 when, on a visit to Dominica, they were captivated by the island’s natural beauty, its warm and welcoming people, the lush gardens and the unique charm of Cocoa Cottage. Since taking over this long established property, they have added some personal touches such as antiques, artwork, Italian fabrics and as from 2024 total solar power.
Cocoa Cottage is a Caribbean guest house in the truest sense. Here, you can feel at home, experience the relaxed Caribbean vibe, connect with fellow travellers and, in the airy restaurant, share meals, socialize and exchange travel experiences. Breakfast and creole-style dinner is prepared by the local team and, on Saturdays and Sundays, fresh Italian pizza. Guests wishing to have dinner at the guest house have to book a day in advance.
The accommodation here is built in traditional Caribbean style, using natural stone and timber and designed to be cool and airy. Temperatures are lower than at sea level.
